HKPC & HKJC Present "Outstanding Digital Youth Award" to 12-year Old IT Genius from Canada

February 17, 2001, Hong Kong - Keith Peiris, a 12 year-old Canadian, was presented the "Outstanding Digi Youth" Award today (17 February 2001) by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Hong Kong Junior Chamber (HKJC).

As Founder, President, CEO and Chief Creative Director of Cyberteks Design, one of the most successful IT companies in Toronto, Keith Peiris has attracted customers from all over North America including Interep, the largest Radio Advertising Agency in the United States, KEWL Threads, a Hockey Apparel company co-founded by Shayne Corson and Darcy Tucker of the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Hockey Team and Rogers Television.

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, Mr Thomas Tang, Executive Director of HKPC said, "Young, innovative and enterprising, Mr Peiris fully embodies the ideals of our 'Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons' Award, an annual selection organized by HKPC and the HKJC to recognize outstanding achievers in the local IT industry."

"As a teenager, the achievement of Mr Peiris is indeed impressive and we are pleased to present him with our first 'Outstanding Digi Youth' Award on his first visit to Hong Kong," Mr Tang said.

"The success of Mr Peiris at such a young age can certainly help to stimulate teenagers of Hong Kong to use IT innovatively in their schoolwork and subsequently in their future careers," Mr Tang added.

At a seminar following the ceremony, entitled "Young & Innovative - Success in IT Industry", Mr Keith Peiris and Mr Johnny Ng, age 26 and CEO of 303 Company Ltd & one of the winners of the '2000 Outstanding Young Digi Persons Selection', shared their experience as a youngster in building their own businesses in the IT industry. Founded in 1998, 303 Company Ltd. has already positioned itself as a leading e-business solutions provider in the Greater China Region.

Officiating guest at the ceremony also included Ms Michelle Tang, 2001 National president of the Hong Kong Junior Chamber.
